These posts are on topic, a debate about easter and religion and where it came from, is not. In the case of the post you quoted, he is making a point about something people would argue. And something that people have been arguing about various holiday events and why ANet should not do them.
If you want to make a post about why you feel an easter event should not be held in GW, then feel free to. But you must remember, that the Christmas event was not a Christmas event, it was Wintersday. They didn't tie in anything but made-up Tyrian religion into this event. Even Halloween, we seen it as the coming of the Mad King. If an Easter event was done, we could be quite sure that it would contain nothing of Jesus or Easter bunnies or anything else that might upset someone, but that it would be based around something Tyrian, either something completely new, like the Mad King, or something we all know, like Grenth and Dwayna.
So, no, I will not be deleting or editing any of the remaining posts, as I feel they are on topic, and people have already brought up that it would not be Jesus, and it was not Christmas.
If you have any other problems with this, feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to discuss it further with you.

Well, instead of "gimme gimme," we could always throw back a little community surprise into the game. Remember how the Monk Strike became an event from a simply community-driven action?
There's always the looser definition of Easter Eggs of the gaming variety (i.e. cultural references and bonus inside jokes/etc.). For some ideas and a number of those appearing in GW, there's this old thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ghlight=easter
Perhaps they're not true Easter Eggs by definition, but certainly a lot of things that could be built into a contest of some sort (maybe screenshot based, although there'd probably have to be some kind of way to date-stamp them), if a site like Guru would be interested in arranging it. I'm sure that there'd be lots of people and guilds willing to chip in gold and game items as prizes. Maybe A.net could even be talked into donating in-game bunny ears for the participants? (They'd look soooo cute on my necro )
I think we could afford to give the developers a break and throw something at them that would give them a little enjoyment of the game for a change.

well i would go for the ears too ^^ especially if they were dyeable
i guess we need to find the definitions of the areas the gods deal with, to help us understand who and what events would be geared around....
i understand the basics of each god but there has to be more info for each...
Grenth is god of death, necromancy and the underworld. that means he deals with the dead. obviously this is windertime festivals, since winter is the time you see things dying....since the halloween festival (or the Mad Kings Day as we should call it) falls around late fall/autumn, that means its on the border between Melandru and Grenth...
Dwayna is goddess of healing and life....possible rebirth...but what else? if Grenth controls the Underworld, what area does she get?
since Wintersday was at the new year, that would mean it is connected to both winter and spring, so its not just about death (Grenth) but about new life (Dwayna) which explais why it was grenth and dwayna scrapping ovwe who would hold sway at the new year.
Melandru is goddess of Nature, Growth and the Wilderness....so her festivals should be around autumn and summer.....since she is a woodland type deity, most of the festivals dealing with her should have a *ahem* treehugger style about them lots of planting if its summer and harvesting in fall....perhaps also dealing with animals.
Balthazar, baing god of War...ok, what else is his domane and porfolio? cant just be war, otherwise its a small domain...he gets the Fissure of Woe, dosent he? (i have never been, so can someone describe its feel and look for me)
usually gods of war have battle and strength as their other domains, but perhaps we should include Honour.
obviously the two best times to war (in the strategy meaning) are spring ans summer...more food, no snow to deal with, open areas to battlefield on....
festivals dealing with Balthazar need to be about, well...fighting and being honourable....
lyssa...well her's is illusions...but that might mean also the Dream World, since its more about what it means *underneath* what it is there....
festivals around her would probably be best in spring and fall, since the worlds appearance change drastically at those times of the year.....
we still have no info on the god of the elementalist class....i suspect there will be no gods for the specialist classess (assassin and ritualist...i refer to them as such because they are the classess that will only be dealt with properly in their own expansions, where as the Core6 will be redone and reclothed in every future expansion)
with there being a lot of information, even in general, about the games deities, theres no reson why every event and festival can not be in game related....
when they fall on popular real world holidays, its just that we, the people playing the game, are connnecting the in game to the out-of-game....humans make leaps of logic and intuituon, we connect the dots all the time, its part of our brains lol....

what happened once the monkeys started striking?
was there a picket line?
*asking since we might be able to use the info for other events, player made or not*

I should hope that they do do something. I mean, could easter eggs fit any better into games? Both tyhe chocolate kind and thge secret kind of course. I am thinking egg hunt all across Tyria, headed by the evil Lich dressed up in a Bunny Suit. C'mon, nobody suspected he was he visier, he is very good at surprises :P
and on religion. wasnt Christmas some kind of religious festival until Santa stole it? :P

peewee, they dont *have* to do ANYTHING to be honest.....
we have already discussed the chirstmass/not christmass thing...
it was WINTERSDAY......
just cause they used images that relate to OUR eyes to xmas ect, dosent mean that it realy had anything to do with xmas.
and come on..they would Never in a million years be able to get that damn visere into a bunny suit lol...
*though if they could...am sure a LOT of players would have a tone of fun tracking him down, skinning him from that suit and then turning him into rabit pie ^^*
again, were not talking REAL WORLD religeion here, were talking GUILDWARS ones....

exactly...
so they co-inside with real world, its cause thats when folks get time off to play (true, theres usually the family to visit and the festival your getting time off for to see to, but that still leaves time off for folks to enjoy the GuildWars Event, even if its late at night, when the kids/family have gone to bed and your getting your breath back after the days festivites)
im trying to get folks to chip in with GuildWars based event/religeon info....rather than real world stuff though..*proving hard*

How is an Easter Bunny religoius? It was created by holiday cards manufactuers to make more money just like motheres, fathers and valentines day, and has nothing to do with religion. I also i hardly see how a giant bunny could offend anyone, if it does, i would like to hear why it does offend you as it would be quite enligthening.

I would like to see the following events added:
Love Day : Around Feb 14th and players can have a special cherub halo as a head gear (similar to pumpkins, santa hats etc..) you get valentine hearts to remove DP like candy canes. There can be special weapons like the wintersday event.
Bunny holiday you get ears like the antlers and dyed eggs to remove DP.
I do hope we have one for release day that is the aniversiarry

Did I say it was religious or offensive? I don't see that in my post.
What I mean is look at the events they have previously done. They may co-exist with a real holiday, and give us items strikingly similar to what would be had at the real event, but they do it based on something for Guild Wars.
Granted the Mad King was completely made up, but I wouldn't expect to see the Easter Bunny in Guild Wars. The Mad King was kind of like a demi-god. Do you really think they'd add in a demi-god that is a walking-talking giant bunny?

true, but surely a bunny-any type of bunny, not an easter one, maybe an old guild wars god or something, could be used, seeing as the mad king was a pumpkin. i appologise for the wording of the last post, i was trying to talk about bunnys in general not an easter one.
